Fire engulfs Notre-Dame cathedral in Paris, parts of it collapse (VIDEO)
A fire broke out at the iconic Notre Dame Cathedral (Cathédrale Notre-Dame de Paris) in central Paris. Smoke could be seen billowing out from the top of the medieval cathedral, as flames lept out besides its two bell towers.
The spire and roof of the building have collapsed. Hundreds of firefighters are at the scene. French President Emmanuel Macon has scrapped his planned address to the nation amid the “terrible fire”.
