Merkel gets goofy while toying with robot at German Chancellery (VIDEO)
German leader Angela Merkel betrayed her typically stoic demeanor while playing with a robot at the Chancellery on Wednesday.

Merkel’s facial expressions conveyed a wild range of emotions – ranging from giddy amazement to uneasy anxiousness – as she investigated a miniature robot on display during Girls’ Days festivities hosted at the Chancellery. The event was aimed at encouraging young women to pursue science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) subjects at university.

This is hardly the first time Merkel has had run-ins with automatons. In March 2015, she made the acquaintance of a football-kicking robot during a trip to Japan – although she appeared to be less enthusiastic about that particular robo-encounter.
