Dutch police arrested a man driving a car with two massive lamp posts attached to its roof, in what appears to be a bizarre and highly conspicuous theft.

The man, who was also in breach of several traffic violations when he came to police attention, apparently wasn’t worried that two giant street lights might draw attention.

The odd incident happened in Lelystad, a city in central Netherlands.

Lelystad police shared an image of the unusual cargo on Facebook, confirming that they were investigating the origins of the lampposts.

Police said it was most likely that they had been stolen from the neighboring city of Almere.

The driver of the vehicle was arrested for a number of traffic violations, including drunk driving, driving with no insurance, and having an invalid driver’s license. Police also suspect he re-fueled the car without paying.

"It is expected that the courts will demand the highest possible penalty for driving under the influence of alcohol, because the defendant did not cooperate with the investigation," the police statement said.
