A cat aboard a Russian tourist ship has become an internet sensation, after news spread of the fluffy sailor having cruised for years between Russia’s two main cities. It turns out that the now-famous Persian is not the only four-legged crew member.

The cat, named ‘Sailor’, has been “working” together with the Nikolay Chernyshevsky cruiser ship’s captain, Vladimir Kotin, since 2008.

He has become not only a real crew member, keeping watch on the captain’s bridge every night from midnight until 4:00am, but is also an attraction for tourists.

It’s not known how much of every 30,000 rubles ($450) – the average ticket price for the cruise – has been earned thanks to the attractive cat, but he definitely worked hard enough to earn himself a uniform ... and a subordinate.

When visiting the ship, RT’s Ruptly met another cat on board. The captain said he got the second male cat to keep Sailor company. The two get along, although the younger one tends to be a bit more lazy.
