Shoppers in a British high street store were stunned last Sunday morning, when a man reportedly entered the premises, picked up a set of bolt cutters, and cut off his big toe, before proceeding to eat it.

According to The Star, one customer at the Sheffield branch of Wilko in northern England described how the man picked up “bolt cutters, chopped off his toe and stood eating it.”

Police were called shortly after the incident took place.

A spokesman for South Yorkshire Police said: “Emergency services were called to a shop in Haymarket, Sheffield, at around 11:10 am on Sunday October 30 following reports of concern for a man inside the premises.

Upon officer arrival, the man was taken to hospital with injuries to his foot, where he remains.

There are not believed to be any other parties involved. The incident is not being investigated as a crime,” he continued.

An eyewitness said: “A man went into Wilkinson’s Haymarket, went upstairs to the electrical aisle, picked up some bolt cutters, chopped his big toe off and stood eating it.

The aisle was taped off until police and forensics went.

Wilko is yet to comment on the incident.
