Aleksander Zubkov has maintained a perfect bobsledding record of four wins from as many events this season, leading Team Russia 1 to victory in the four-man World Cup event in Winterberg.

Latvia 1 finished fifth after their first run, and moved into provisional first place during the day.Oskars Melbardis steered Latvia 1 around the Winterberg run in 55.18 seconds for a combined mark of 1 minute, 50.41 seconds.Thomas Florschuetz of Germany 1 and Beat Hefti of Switzerland 2 failed to beat that mark – which Zubkov and his teammates managed to do a few moments later. The World Cup leaders completed their second run in 55.02 seconds for a combined time of 1 minute, 50.06 seconds.Maximilian Arndt and Germany 3, the leaders after the first run, looked to spoil Zubkov's perfect record when they made the final run of the day, but lost 0.19 seconds overall.Zubkov and his crew – Aleksey Negodaylo, Dmitry Trunenkov and Maksim Mokrousov – have consequently extended their lead over nearest rival Steve Holcomb’s USA 1 to a sizable 112 points in the World Cup standings.
