Newly-crowned bobsleigh World champion Aleksandr Zubkov has dismissed fears he's about to retire again, saying he's turning his attention to the 2014 Sochi Olympics.
The 36-year-old has returned from Germany where he eclipsed the local favorites to become Russia's first-ever bobsleigh world champion.Zubkov and his teammate Alexey Voevoda also won the two-man event to add to their World Cup glory. They also clinched the overall title at the same track.Zubkov had retired from the sport last summer, but then returned to enjoy the best season of his career and is now hungry for more.“Of course, I’ll be preparing for the Sochi Olympics from now on. I didn’t come back into the sport for just one season. We had some serious discussion with the sporting officials and we came to this decision. The new head of the Bobsleigh Federation knows very well what’s to be done if we are to achieve good results. Take this season for example, we finished in the top six in almost every stage of the World Cup, which is quite a big thing,” he told RT.
