In athletics, Maria Savinova has recorded a 2010 world's best in the women’s 800 meters at the Prefontaine Classic in the US.

The Russian crossed the line in one minute and 57.56 seconds, beating Kenyan athletes Nancy Jebet Langat and Janeth Jepkosgei, who finished second and third respectively.

Meanwhile Tyson Gay’s return to the track after a hamstring injury was not victorious.

The 2007 World Champion finished second in the men’s 200 meters behind fellow American Walter Dix, who needed just 19.72 seconds to complete the distance. Tyson lost by only four hundredths of a second.

In the men’s 110-meter hurdles, David Oliver produced a stunning performance.

The American set a personal best of 12.90 seconds, which is only three hundredths of a second slower than Darren Robles' world record.
