The Russian Amateur Open Golf Championship has taken place in Moscow over the weekend, with Vladimir Osipov and Nina Pegova taking the honors.

Previously, the competition was also open to professionals, but it’s now an all-amateur event.

However, that didn't affect the quality of the event with spectators thrilled until the last hole.

In the men's competition, Vladimir Osipov claimed the crown with a relatively modest score of two over 71 in the final round at the Cal Olson's designed course.

17-year-old Osipov managed to beat the runner-up Austria's Aleksander Klezch by three strokes even after making a double bogey on the 18th.

“It was a great pleasure to play at the championship,” the champ said. “Everything was organized really well. I'm happy to win the title although it wasn't my aim. My aim was to perform well and card a good score. I think I did it and I'm satisfied.”

Meanwhile, in women's event Nina Pegova confidently grabbed the title dominating from the start.

The 18-year-old set a new course record at the Agalarov golf club with a six-under par 65 on her opening round.
