After Bianca Andreescu defeated Serena Williams in the US Open final, she told American fans she’s sorry for depriving Williams of a record-tying 24th Grand Slam title, opening a Twitter flood of comments over how Canadian it was.
“I know you guys wanted Serena to win... I’m sorry,” Andreescu said at Arthur Ashe Stadium with Williams by her side.

“Now that’s how a Canadian delivers a Grand Slam champion’s winner’s speech,” the official Tennis Canada account tweeted.
Others called the move “the most Canadian thing ever.”
The responses ranged from admiration to amusement, to eye-rolling as Americans often joke about their northern neighbors apologizing for everything.
Some Canadians also seized the opportunity to remind everyone again that Toronto won the NBA championship this year.
