Juventus superstar Cristiano Ronaldo is believed to have asked his current club to turn to one of his former teammates to help turn the Serie A side from Champions League contenders to winners next season, according to reports.

Juventus captured the Serie A title, but were eliminated from this season's Champions League by Ajax in what was a stunning upset.

And Spanish outlet Don Balon has reported that Ronaldo has told the higher-ups at the club that the team needs to strengthen its midfield to help give Serbian playmaker Miralem Pjanic more support in the middle of the park in key matches, with Isco the ideal solution.

Spanish midfielder Isco has been on the fringes of the starting lineup for Los Blancos this season and may be available should the Italian side make a suitable offer for the 27-year-old.

And it seems Ronaldo isn't the only significant figure to suggest the Spanish playmaker could play a part in Juve's future.

Former midfield legend Andrea Pirlo also believes Isco could be a missing piece of the Juve jigsaw.

Speaking to Sky Italia, Pirlo said: "I think we need an Isco. We're on another level, but you have to win the Champions League.

"Allegri has in mind the team of the future for several months and the midfield is the department to be improved.

"Maybe he [Allegri] lacked quality in the middle having bought Ronaldo and didn't know how to get him the ball.

"Midfielders are needed to get to the bottom of the Champions League."
