'Thanks for the love': Iker Casillas tweets his appreciation for messages after heart attack

Spanish World Cup-winning goalkeeper Iker Casillas has tweeted his thanks for the flood of well-wishes that followed news of his heart attack after an FC Porto training session on Wednesday.

Casillas was treated in hospital following the terrifying incident, but Porto later posted a statement to calm fears for their goalkeeper's health, saying he was out of danger and in a "stable" condition.

And the goalkeeper, who skippered his country to glory in South Africa in 2010, tweeted a photo of himself sat up in bed and smiling in hospital, as he thanked friends, fans and clubs for their messages of support.

"Everything controlled here, a big scare but with the forces intact," he tweeted (translated from Spanish).

"Thank you very much everyone for the messages and the love."
