Polish rider Pawel Bernas was center of attention at the ongoing Tour of Norway, after he imitated falling during the race to claim he was a crash victim and improve his finishing time.

A video taken during the competition shows the rider dismounting his bicycle, sitting on the ground and pretending to be hurt in a crash that occurred at the last stage of the race.

With 2.2km to go several riders in the middle of the peloton rammed into a traffic island causing a mass fall on the road. While the cyclists who fell during the incident tried to get back on their bicycles, the quick-witted Bernas jumped off his bike, pretending he was affected by it.

The rider who represents CCC Sprandi Polkowice team apologized for his behavior after learning that the episode was caught on cameras. He said he was enormously tired and wanted to be credited with the same time as the leading group. Riders who fall within the last three kilometers of the stage are given the same finishing time as the group they were part of before the crash.
