Despite his team losing 4-1, St. John’s IceCaps forward Bud Holloway produced a moment of magic in the American Hockey League clash against the Binghamton Senators on the weekend.

The 27-year-old kept his side in contention when they were 3-1 down by saving what looked like a sure Senators goal.

With the IceCaps’ net gaping and Cole Schneider looking destined to score, Holloway showed incredible commitment and athleticism to dive and block the goal-bound shot.

Even the passionate Binghamton support applauded Holloway’s save of the year contender, but the home side went on to record victory.

The center is a former third round pick by the Los Angeles Kings in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft and is currently in the Montreal Canadiens system, making one appearance for them earlier this season.

Holloway has scored 15 goals this year, second only to team-mate Charles Hudon, and will look to feature more regularly in the NHL going forward.
