Disengaging proxies?

With ongoing military offensives underway in Syria, Iraq, and Yemen, the MENA region may be going through one of its most turbulent phases in decades. Does the shift from proxy war to more direct engagement indicate the desire of regional powers to push the conflicts toward resolution or, on the contrary, to keep up the fight?
