Monthly child tax credits and Israel’s BLM moment

The Biden administration announced on Monday that about 39 million families will begin receiving monthly child tax credit payments for the first time on July 15.

Hamas could not maintain its credibility as a movement if it sat by while Palestinians in Israel battled Jewish Israelis there. The reality is that Israel is having its Black Lives Matter moment. As in the United States, a brutalized minority group, facing systemic racism and discriminatory acts, has taken to the streets. And, as in the United States, the only way out starts with serious soul-searching on the part of the majority.

After a year that has asked more and more of them but given back too little, restaurant workers – some of the lowest-paid people in the country – are rising up. Women are leading that charge. McDonald’s workers are set to strike on May 19.
