He’s a working class council houseman from Edinburgh with not much in the way of formal education. Yet his reach is phenomenal: from a critique of Victor Hugo’s “Les Miserables” to a new work on the epic Attica Prison uprising. Not that he lets contemporary events go unremarked. John Wight has emerged as possibly one of the best writers in Britain. It is possible that once he will be quoted, like Orwell, as a tribune of the people with his relentless commentary on the way things are. He came into the studio to give us his take on what went on and what’s going on now.
