Taliban Militants Still Holding Dozen of Civilians in Afghanistan
Taliban fighters ambushed three buses in Northern Afghanistan capturing a number of civilians. Afghan forces were quick to respond and were able to free 149 of the hostages, however more than two dozen are still being held. This all transpired after Afghan president Ashraf Ghani announced a conditional ceasefire between government forces and Taliban fighters. The Afghan government has vowed to continue fighting to free the remaining hostages. RT’s Manila Chan reports.
Urgent Care Clinics Overprescribing Antibiotics on Massive Scale
A recent study found that urgent care clinics are overprescribing antibiotics on a massive scale. The study found that nearly half of all patients who go to urgent care seeking treatment for cold and flu symptoms are being prescribed antibiotics, this is three times the amount for patients who seek treatment for the same symptoms at a traditional doctor’s office. When over prescribed antibiotics become less affective at treating life-threatening illness and could lead to a major health crisis. RT’s Sara Montes De Oca reports.
Gold Medalist Stands with Nassar Molestation Victims
Gold-medalist Simone Biles stood in solidarity with Larry Nassar’s sexual abuse victims, by wearing teal (the color for sexual abuse survivors) at the US Gymnastics Championship. Biles, herself, was a victim of sexual abused. In tennis, Novac Djokovic, beat Roger Federer in straight sets 6-4, 6-4. In IndyCar racing, driver Robert Wickens was hospitalized following a dramatic crash at the Poconos Raceway.
