Vladimir Putin secures a landslide victory in the Russian presidential election, winning more than 87 percent of the vote. He thanked the nation for its support, while paying special tribute to those who cast their ballots in Russia’s embattled new regions, despite constant attacks by Ukrainian forces. The three other candidates only managed just over 10 percent between them. The Communist party's Nikolay Kharitonov was runner up, with the New People party's Vladislav Davankov who's running for the first time came third. And India and China have become the latest countries to congratulate Vladimir Putin on his election victory. That’s in contrast to the condemnation coming from the west.
