In Ukraine, Russian-led Donetsk Republic forces say they've taken control of more than half of the embattled city of Mariupol amid intense fighting that's included raids of civilian buildings, to sweep out Ukrainian troops hiding inside.
And, Washington steps up pressure on China to join the US-led condemnation of Russia, with Beijing standing firm on its neutral stance, despite threats of American sanctions against China's economy.
