US evacuation faces hurdles as Taliban blocks airport access

Thousands have already been evacuated from Afghanistan, but European leaders fear the turmoil in the nation is going to create a new refugee crisis. RT’s Kate Partridge reports. (1:29) “The COVID Defense Act”, a new bill introduced by Congressman Mark Pocan (D-WI) aims to cut $9.6B from the Pentagon’s bloated $740B budget. Though $9.6B sounds like a lot of money, it represents only 1.3 percent of the Department of Defense budget for 2021 alone. This cut would then be used towards spending on “Covax” a World Health Organization global vaccine initiative to assist low-income nations in getting much needed coronavirus vaccine doses.
