Ditching the dollar & US accused of dropping white phosphorus in Syria

Published 30 Oct, 2018 21:28 | Updated 8 Nov, 2018 14:37

Anya Parampil reports on recent comments from Dmitry Mazepin, the Chairman of the Russia Zimbabwe-Business Council, which suggest Russia wants to halt its use of the US dollar when trading with African countries following Moscow’s announcement that it is working towards de-dollarizing its economy. Anya explains that Russia is not the only country looking to buck the US buck, and is joined by In Question producer Kei Pritsker, who explains why China, India, Japan, Turkey, Venezuela, and Iran have all made moves away from the dollar, including dumping their holdings of US debt and increasing their respective gold reserves. Later in the show, Anya brings an update on the situation in Syria, where the US is accused yet again of dropping white phosphorus. International Relations and Security Analyst Mark Sleboda joins Anya to discuss the ongoing situation in Syria as the war draws to a close.
