Saudi Exports Wahhabism & Twitter Turns to NATO Think Tank for Censorship

Anya Parampil reports on comments from President Trump, promising “severe” consequences against Saudi Arabia if the Kingdom is found to have murdered missing writer Jamal Khashoggi. Anya then explains what the mainstream media has missed in its coverage of his case and the special relationship which exists between the US and Saudi, specifically how US geo-strategic interests benefit from Saudi’s exportation of Wahhabism, an ultraconservative interpretation of Islam. Hassan el-Tayyib, Policy Director for Chicago Area Peace Action, joins In Question to discuss whether or not this moment will result in a true reevaluation of the US-Saudi partnership. Later RT Correspondent Rachel Blevins reports on Twitter’s partnership with the Atlantic Council, a NATO-backed think tank, to help purge accounts accused of spreading “Russian propaganda”. Rachel explains that after Facebook partnered with the group, the social media giant launched a campaign to remove dissident media from its site.
