‘ArBat’: Unending Fellowship

Published 10 Jul, 2026 15:28

ArBat: Unending Fellowship is a collection of first-person stories. In this documentary, the film’s protagonists – ArBat battalion assault troops with the call signs ‘Fizruk’, ‘Seva’, ‘Getashen’, ‘Sharmanka’ and ‘Bars’ – talk about the realities of war, acts of courage, and the bond of brotherhood in combat.

They recount how they escorted civilians through minefields, one by one, evacuated the elderly and children under fire, and carried their fallen commander through kilometers of waterlogged mud with almost no strength left.

A soldier with the call sign ‘Seva’, a recipient of the Order of Courage, believes that “the most terrifying thing in war is losing someone close to you.” On the frontline, mutual support, unity, and friendship become profoundly important, as all pretenses fall away and people are revealed as they truly are.

A special place in the fighters’ hearts is held by battalion commander Hayk Gasparyan, call sign Abrek, who was awarded the Medal for Bravery and the Order of Courage. In footage filmed by his comrades, Abrek is already severely wounded, yet remains alongside his men. On February 9, 2026, Hayk Gasparyan was killed while carrying out a combat mission. The assault troops acknowledge that it is the memory of Abrek and their fallen comrades that gives them the strength to keep moving forward and prevail.
