Playing with Fire. A Tale of Saboteurs

They committed crimes against their own country in exchange for rewards from Ukrainian intelligence, but the promised money never came. Instead, each of them ended up with years behind bars.

They were all given assignments by Ukrainian intelligence agents. Aleksey from Orenburg planned to damage railway tracks. Eduard from Krasnodar was preparing to blow up a petrol station. Kirill from Krasnoyarsk torched railway relay cabinets, and even planned to damage fighter jets. Viktoria from Chita carried out sabotage on the railway. Her father did not survive to see her released. He died shortly after her arrest.

All these saboteurs received long prison sentences. Gennady from Sestroretsk narrowly avoided the same fate. Scammers linked to Ukraine stole a large sum of money from him and promised to return it if he set fire to a police car. The crime was only prevented because passersby intervened when they saw him wandering around with a water bottle looking for petrol.
