Europe Undone

All over Europe, cafes and bakeries have no other option but to shut down as energy costs hit new record highs. The sanctions imposed on Russia by the EU hinder gas supplies and have caused a major energy crisis. ‘I recently heard about a bakery that was doing well and had been paying €120,000 for its gas per year. And now, they’ve had their forecast, and they’ll have to pay €1.2 million. That’s ten times more. No small business can afford that today,’ says German citizen Hans Peter Kornelius. Will Europe be able to meet its energy needs without Russian gas?
