Ron Wyden takes on NSA, capitalism obstructing net neutrality, musical guest ‘The siren’

On this episode of Breaking the Set, Abby Martin calls attention to a new Senate bill that would challenge the NSA and introduce a constitutional advocate to protect civil liberties. Plus Part 2 of her interview with Robert McChesney, communications professor and author of “Digital Disconnect,” discussing the effect technology has the relationship between capitalism and democracy, and the need for a vibrant, independent free press. Abby then speaks with Zoe Carpenter, reporter for The Nation, about the Free Flow of Information Act, a bill whose broad definition of journalism is raising questions over the protection of journalists. Wrapping up the show is a musical performance by The Siren, fronted by epicstep artist Kaisi Berick, performing their song “Social Control.”
