NYPD ending Muslim surveillance, 5 journalists labeled traitors, Heartbleed bug & NSA

Abby Martin reports on the announcement that the NYPD is disbanding its ‘Demographic Unit’, responsible for the surveillance of Muslim communities in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut following 9/11. An exclusive with hip hop artist Talib Kweli on the role of government, Obama’s presidency, the prison industrial complex and establishment hip hop. Five instances of Pulitzer prize-winning journalists being labeled ‘traitors’ for their coverage of groundbreaking stories. Finally, investigative journalist at Firedoglake Kevin Gozstola discusses the NSA’s prior knowledge of the ‘Heartbleed Bug’, an internet flaw that’s made the private financial data of 17 percent of those online vulnerable to internet thieves. Abby and Kevin also give an update on the cases of jailed whistleblowers Chelsea Manning and John Kiriakou.
