Fed announces rate decision
The US Federal Reserve has announced that it will ramp up the tapering of bond purchases as it winds down its pandemic measures. And Presidents Xi and Putin have held their first virtual meeting in several months as tensions over trade and the Olympics continue to strain the globe. The talks come as tensions continue between the US and China amid reports that Washington plans to blacklist several more Chinese firms, including the world’s largest commercial drone maker, DJI Technology.
