Travelers beware: USA now a high-risk destination

Holland Cooke discusses with World BEYOND War Executive Director David Swanson the exact implications that the American gun epidemic is having overseas. Other countries are now urging citizens to take precautions when traveling to the US, citing public safety concerns in the wake of recent mass shootings in El Paso, TX and Dayton, OH. To examine the psychological effect these chilling tragedies have on Americans, specifically children and teens, psychotherapist Mark Rutherford gives his take on the current social landscape that has NORMALIZED preparedness for possible mass shootings in our own neighborhoods. Holland Cooke hosts a panel discussion between civil rights activist Perry Redd and retired DC police officer Ronald Hampton to unpack just what’s been done regarding police accountability and use of force since the violent Ferguson protests, which erupted over the killing of 18 year-old Michael Brown. Five years on, the unfortunate truth is violent escalations in police brutality remain a serious threat to the lives specifically of black Americans.
