The women of Afghanistan

As the bloody and chaotic flight from Kabul recedes from the Western media headlines, the Alex Salmond Show interviews two women whose lives have been irrevocably affected by decades of warfare in Afghanistan. Hammasa Kohistani is an Afghan refugee, whose family came to the UK during the first period of Taliban government in the 1990s. Meanwhile, 20 years ago, Yorkshire journalist Yvonne Ridley was captured by the Taliban on the eve of the NATO invasion. Their different perspectives on war and peace in Afghanistan make for compelling viewing.
