Medvedev praises media, but wants higher standards

President-elect Dmitry Medvedev says that the Russian mass media is developing steadily and meeting the requirements of society. He made the statement during a meeting with journalists from the popular Argumenty i Fakty newspaper.

Celebrating its 30th anniversary, Argumenty i Fakty has become one of the most popular newspapers in the country. It has a weekly readership of almost ten million people.

Dmitry Medvedev also called on the Russian media to improve standards and be responsible in its reporting.
