Israel targeting houses - peace activist report

A peace activist with the International Solidarity Movement, Eva Bartlett shares her views from Gaza.

On Monday the Palestinians urged the UN Security Council to quickly adopt a resolution calling for an immediate end to Israeli attacks on Gaza and a permanent ceasefire, including international border monitors and an international force to protect civilians.

Meanwhile, the UN says there is an ‘increasingly alarming’ humanitarian crisis in Gaza, directly contradicting Israeli claims that any such predicament has followed its military offensive.

She says that if any aid has come in, it’s insignificant.

“Houses have been targeted. Many people have been killed in their houses. People are scared, wondering for how long it’s all going to last,” she reports.

Eva Bartlett is a Canadian human rights advocate and freelancer who spent eight months in 2007 living in various West Bank areas under siege or settler attack, after volunteering with the International Solidarity Movement. She also spent four months in Egypt in 2008, meeting and writing about Palestinians from Gaza in hospitals and at the Rafah border crossing to Gaza. She will be staying in Gaza for several months working with Palestinians there.
