Interview with Luc van den Brande

With less than a month left before the election to the State Duma, Russian parties are promoting their ideas through various media. Luc van den Brande from the PACE shares the EU's hopes on the Russian parliamentary election.

“It’s important to have open and free elections. The preparations are really going the right way in Russia, but it'ss really not enough to have open and free elections. We have also to see if there will be fair elections. It’s important to voice one concern: What is the position of the media? Will there be a balanced, proportional position of different registered and accepted parties running for the elections? And, I think, speaking in terms of fair elections this is really important,” Mr van den Brande said.
