EXCLUSIVE: Sergey Lavrov on Sanchez Effect

In this episode, we go to the Russian Foreign Ministry and speak with one of Russia’s most experienced and well-known statesmen, Sergey Lavrov. Dedicating this interview to the Diplomatic Workers Day in Russia, Lavrov offers deep analysis and an assessment of the ongoing peace talks to resolve the Ukraine conflict. He says that Russia has made numerous concessions in the past, but the EU and Vladimir Zelensky have made every effort to tweak the US proposals that were agreed to at the summit in Alaska. Lavrov gives credit to Donald Trump’s efforts to mediate a settlement, but at the same time he says he and Russian President Vladimir Putin were surprised that Trump imposed even harsher sanctions after the fruitful meeting in Anchorage. Lavrov agrees with the term ‘two faces of Trump’ and questions a so-called bright future of bilateral relations which the Trump administration has been talking about. Sergey takes aim at European politicians for their ‘pathetic diplomacy’ as they flip-flop on issues. While leaders of France and Germany have spoken about their willingness to talk to Russia, Lavrov says ‘if you want to call Putin, do it, he always picks up the phone’. Iran, Epstein, the US pressure in Latin America – those topics and much more with the Russian foreign minister on RT International.

EXCLUSIVE: Sergey Lavrov on Sanchez Effect
Sanchez Effect is a journalistic rebellion. RT’s flagship program is led by Rick Sanchez, the Emmy and Peabody Award-winning newsman who’s made a career out of defying the status quo. “When only one side of a story is permitted, that’s when I push harder. If Moscow is deemed off-limits, it’s precisely where I want to be. Because more often than not, truth resides in the places we’re told not to look.”
