Wayne Dupree: The Covid stimulus bill is a socialist scam, and the Dems are trying to turn our nation into a one-party state

Wayne Dupree: The Covid stimulus bill is a socialist scam, and the Dems are trying to turn our nation into a one-party state

Look at the $1.9 trillion relief bill and the HR1 voting-rights act, and you can see what Biden and Pelosi are up to: using the people’s money to buy votes and make it almost impossible to elect a Republican president again.

My message to America regarding the $1.9 trillion so-called Covid stimulus package passed by the US Senate and now on its way back to the House before being sent to Joe Biden is one of the utmost importance.

This is not Covid relief, except in a small sliver. No, it is political pork – and what a huge hog it is.

The Democratic-led Congress does not understand how America works or the importance of independent freedom for the individual. And most depressing of all is the fact that the government doesn’t know what it is doing. Democrat policies discourage work and the independence it affords, encourage cradle-to-grave dependence on the state, and give a flower to a gray, colorless world.

Plato predicted that, eventually, when citizens raid the treasury, the democratic process will end with a dictator coming to end the chaos. Rome was evidence of this. I wonder who our ‘strongman’ will be?

These are your dollars being wasted, being doled out as political payments, largely to well-off Democrat-controlled states. California, already heading for a $19-billion surplus, gets $40 billion out of the $350 billion set aside for states that apparently need help. But why – unless it’s to pay them off for staying blue?

This is insanity unfolding before our eyes. It may feel good now, but as history has shown, the pain is on the way, fellow citizens! Better save those government checks for what lies ahead.

Some voices point to the money allocated for vaccine distribution. But look at the other $1.7 trillion – it’s all negative for the economy and for jobs. There is nothing in this bill that stimulates the supply side of the economy, producing goods and services.

This bill creates employment losses of up to six million. Unfortunately, the Democrats also voted to make such benefits non-taxable, making being on welfare look like a better option than getting a job. Sadly, the government is discouraging self-reliance. After the expensive failure that was Obama’s $830-billion stimulus – the infamous “shovel-ready projects” scam – the Democrats have doubled down… actually, nearly tripled down.

The easiest way to say it is that the socialist bandwagon rolls on and on, gaining momentum. The bill includes a $45-billion expansion of Obamacare, including new subsidies for people with six-figure incomes; $270 million to the National Endowments for the Arts and the Humanities; $4 billion for agriculture, including “socially disadvantaged” farmers; $50 million in environmental justice grants; $91 million in “outreach to student loan borrowers”... and the list goes on.

As Pat Toomey, the Republican senator from Pennsylvania, commented: “This isn’t about Covid relief. It’s about using a health crisis as an excuse to ram through a left-wing wishlist.”

You’ll have noticed there was absolutely no bipartisanship with this bill – not one Republican senator voted for it. Nor with Nancy Pelosi’s abominable HR1 act, the sweeping voting-rights bill that ‘fixes’ election rules, and is a blatant, partisan attempt to turn America into a one-party nation forever ruled by the Democrats. It trashes the constitution in an attempt to make it virtually impossible to ever again elect a Republican president or Congress.

It provides for, among other things, same-day and automatic voter registration, restoring the franchise to those with criminal records, and an expansion of early voting, voting by mail, and absentee drop boxes. In other words, there’ll be no need for fraud at the next election, as cheating will be baked in.

These measures, HR1 and ‘Covid’ relief, go hand in hand in the Dems’ big vote-buying bonanza! But just wait. There’ll be another $2 trillion for infrastructure, trillions to offset climate change, trillions for more direct payments. In other words, the Democrats are buying their way to a permanent majority. I hope the public is ready. Inflation and power shortages come next, followed by riots.

I get angrier every time I think about it. I expected the Biden administration to be just a continuation of the first two years of the Obama one, but this is that on steroids. Who needs Republicans when you can ram your socialist wish list down everyone’s throat?

Remember their preposterous argument that Obama’s policies failed only because he didn’t spend enough? They’re determined not to make that ‘mistake’ again. Think about what the Dems are doing yet again. The $1.9 trillion means they’re borrowing $6,000 from every man, woman, and child in this country to give some people $1,400 checks. That’s typical left-wing government efficiency. It isn’t relief – rather, it’s relieving us of our money.

The Federal Reserve acts as if it prints money from thin air via keystrokes. No one gives it real money. The money it generates is based on the debt assets it’s buying. It hits a few keys on a computer and buys a few trillion in treasuries that now become its assets. And this magic money tree printing serves mainly to inflate asset prices such as stocks and housing.

I remember a time when, if you didn’t work, there were negative consequences, so everyone worked and took care of themselves and their families. Life was simple, and we were happy. People were generally nice and politicians were actually public servants. It would be good to go back to those days.

Some day, all this money is going to have to be paid back. The Chinese and those who live in emerging-market countries aren’t always going to buy our bonds or settle for a yield of less than two percent on a 10-year loan. The European sovereign-debt crisis demonstrated that debt such as this could be serviced for a long time out of the public’s view, but when a crisis comes, it comes suddenly.

Far too many Americans fail to realize the difference between ‘income’ and ‘revenue’ – that is, that the government has no means of earning income, and revenue, generated by businesses and workers, is where governments get money. And it is not ‘the government’s money,’ but money that is earned by working people, corporations, and other taxable entities.

Over the course of 245 years, America didn’t become the greatest economic and military power the world has ever seen by using revenue from public sources. It has been the private sector, the entrepreneurs, the risk-takers, who have generated the wealth to make us such a powerful nation, and that funds the military to protect our country.

The socialist Democrat Party is not truly serving the American people. It is merely serving itself and its quest to be ‘eine Partie über alles,' and, ironically, using the people’s money to buy the people’s votes.

This is not going to end well.
