Beijing urges US to view establishment of relations with El Salvador ‘correctly’

China’s Foreign Ministry on Friday urged the United States to view Beijing’s establishment of diplomatic ties with El Salvador ‘correctly’. The statement from the ministry’s spokesman Lu Kang came after the White House criticized the move, Reuters said. El Salvador this week ended what had been long-standing ties with Taiwan in favor of China. Taiwan’s presidential office expressed thanks to Washington on Friday for “speaking out for justice” after the White House criticized El Salvador’s decision to ditch diplomatic ties with Taiwan.
