18 men charged in India for rape of 12 yo girl over several months

Eighteen men have been charged with repeatedly raping a 12-year-old girl at her apartment in the Indian city of Chennai over a seven month period. The men, who were all reportedly workers at the apartment block, allegedly sedated the girl before taking her to vacant apartments to assault her. Indian media reported that the girl, whose hearing is impaired, was threatened by the men with knives and was told that video of the sexual assault would be released if she reported the attacks. The men were arrested on Monday on charges of rape, attempted murder and criminal intimidation.
