Egypt reports major success in Sinai Peninsula terrorism crackdown

The Egyptian military has reported killing 16 militants and detaining over 30 suspects in its latest operation in the Sinai Peninsula. According to Army spokesman Col. Tamer el-Rifaai, security forces seized weapons, vehicles, communications equipment and other hardware used by the militants during the operation. The sweep covered areas in north and central Sinai, the Nile Delta and the Western Desert on the border with Libya.
