Aliyev brings forward date of Azerbaijan presidential election to April 11

Azerbaijan has brought forward the date of a planned presidential election to April 11 from October 17, according to a decree issued by the office of President Ilham Aliyev on Monday. Aliyev has been in power since succeeding his father in 2003. He was nominated as the ruling party’s candidate for the election for what could be his fourth term, Reuters reports. No other candidates have been nominated so far.
