Russian nuclear institute proposes intl commission over ruthenium-106 'emission'

The Nuclear Safety Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences has initiated the establishment of an international commission to inquire into the reported emission of ruthenium-106, TASS reported Friday. The Russian government had already ordered the formation of a new inter-departmental group on ruthenium-106, according to Rosatom representative, Andrey Ivanov. The inter-departmental inquiry panel has found no traces of ruthenium-106 in test samples taken at the Mayak plant in the Chelyabinsk Region.
