Iraqi president calls for urgent dialogue with Kurdistan leadership
President Fuad Masum called for a dialogue between Iraq’s central government in Baghdad and the Kurdistan regional leadership to resolve the crisis following the Kurdish independence referendum, Reuters said. Masum, a Kurd, holds a largely ceremonial role in the Iraqi state. Most power lies with the prime minister, who belongs to the Shiite majority.
