U.S. President calls for new policy in Iraq

U.S. President calls for new policy in Iraq

U.S. President George Bush has said a new approach is required on Iraq. This statement was made just one day after a bipartisan commission said the policy of the American administration has failed and called for a change in strategy.

President George Bush discussed the future policy in Iraq with British Prime Minister Tony Blair who arrived in Washington on Wednesday evening.

Mr Bush said the two leaders agreed on the key points and emphasised that success in Iraq depends on victory over extremists across the broader Middle East.

The British Prime Minister said he welcomed the conclusions of the Iraq Study Group despite its criticism of previous policy.
