Hoax bomb plots engineered ahead of US elections – journalist

The bombs mailed from Yemen and intercepted in the UK and Dubai last month, as well as other recently foiled attacks, are part of a scheme to score national security points for Barack Obama, says journalist Wayne Madsen.

­Reports surfaced recently questioning the authenticity of the bombs, which officials claimed were addressed to Chicago synagogues. These reports suggest the bombs could have been part of a PR stunt, which Madsen says may have been “engineered” ahead of the election campaign.

This may have been another October surprise,” Madsen said, referring to the pre-midterm election period, adding that the aim of the scheme may have been to “make President Obama look like he was on the ball on national security issues.”
