Russian businessman eyes Versace villa
According to The Sunday Times newspaper in the UK, Russian restaurant-owner Arkadi Novikov is set to buy the house of former famous fashion designer Gianni Versace for more than $US 50 million. Versace bought the 19th-century Villa Fontanelle on Lake Como
Versace personally renovated the property and designed its interiors in a neo-classic style.
It's remained empty since the designer was shot dead more than ten years ago.
The newspaper's sources suggest the Russian businessman has offered almost $US 6 million above the asking price to secure the deal.
Arkady Novikov is the owner of more than 40 restaurants and cafes. His wealth was estimated at $US 180 million at the beginning of 2007.
