Russia urges Iran to freeze uranium work

The UN Security Council is ready to impose more sanctions on Iran over its controversial nuclear programme, according to Russia's Deputy Foreign Minister, Sergey Kislyak. Moscow says Iran should freeze uranium enrichment and fully co-operate with the Inte

During a media briefing in Moscow, Kislyak said international concerns focus on the secrecy of Iran's nuclear programme.

He also added that Russia has repeated offers to enrich nuclear fuel for Iran.

In December, Russia began shipping enriched uranium to Iran's only nuclear power plant in Bushehr which is due to go on stream within a year.
