Russia to extradite Israeli mercenary to Colombia
A Moscow court has agreed to extradite to Columbia an Israeli, Yair Klein, detained on charges of terrorism. His lawyer plans to appeal the decision.
Klein was arrested at Moscow's Domodedovo airport in August, after Russia received a tip-off from Interpol.
It is thought the retired Israeli colonel has been on the run since 2001, when a Colombian court sentenced him in absentia to ten years in prison. It found he’d trained drugs traffickers and right-wing paramilitaries in ‘terrorist techniques’ in the 1980s.
