Russia's Mission Control Centre at Korolyov, in Moscow, linked up in a news conference with the crew of the 14th official mission to the International Space Station.
The space crew spoke about their physical condition, their mood and how they plan to celebrate the coming of the New Year. Michael Lopez-Alegria, Mikhail Tyurin and Sunita Williams also told journalists about their Christmas presents.
The crew members joked about how cities on Earth look from space with their Christmas and New Year lights. They expressed their hope the coming year would be peaceful for humanity. Pointing to the beauty of the planet, the space travelers said they hoped it would look that way in the future.
