More than 300 terrorist acts prevented in 2006: FSB Chief
Russian security services say they prevented more than 300 terrorist acts in different parts of the country last year. The announcement was made by the Director of the Federal Security Service (FSB), Nikolay Patrushev.

According to him, Russia's security services have conducted a series of special operations which damaged militants' command system. They have found and destroyed 220 secret weapons caches, as well as 140 militant bases.

Mr Patrushev added that as well as Special Forces, ordinary citizens and ex-militants put down their weapons during an amnesty in the Caucasus.
