Israeli-China talks on Iran’s nuclear programme

The Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert is in China for talks with Chinese premier Hu Jintao. Mr Olmert is expected to push for a tougher stance against Iran and emphasise the importance of UN imposed sanctions.

Ehud Olmert's three-day China tour completes his tour to nations with permanent seats on the Security Council to enlist support against Iran.

China supports negotiating with Iran, whereas Israel argues a nuclear-armed Iran would be a threat not only to Israel but to the whole region which Beijing relies on for oil.
